praise & press
Being creative is more than just a hobby or business to me, it is a way of life, a real passion of mine and I try to inject creativity into all aspects of my life and home.
I started paper crafting over ten years ago when I was looking for unusual cards and gifts for family and friends and decided to have a go at making my own. This then led on to scrapbooking, which was a wonderful way for me to preserve my photos and memories as keepsakes to treasure. I started my blog Whimsical Wishes in 2008 as a way of connecting with other crafters and then in 2011, whilst planning my own wedding I launched Whimsical Wishes as a business and a step towards realising a long unfulfilled dream. It was after attending a beautiful vintage wedding fair, that I thought I would love to do this, and more importantly believed that I could and the rest as they say is history.
I have worked with many brides and grooms to create unique handmade wedding stationery, bouquets and decorations for their big day, specialising in vintage and shabby chic themes. I have created many bespoke pieces in various different styles, it is my aim to please and I quite like a challenge! I have also worked on developing a range of gifts, home decor items and party accessories, which is ever evolving and expanding. I also recently proudly launched my talented Dad's handmade wooden Christmas decorations as part of our product range. I love my work with Claire over at the Vintage Hen House where I design and create handmade hen party accessories and decor exclusively to them. I have been fortunate to be featured in publications such as Your Country Wedding Magazines and Boho Bride, amongst others.
I live with my husband, Adrian, in a cosy little cottage in Warwickshire. I love to travel, my favourite place by far is the USA. We would love to live there but like to be close to our wonderful family and friends, so we compromise by visiting as much as possible. We have been able to visit New York and Florida several times and have road tripped around California, Las Vegas and most recently New England. I have found so much inspiration in these amazing places and try to translate some of this into my work and designs.
I also love a good book, watching movies, getting some fresh air on my beloved vintage style bike (yes it has a little bell and basket but my hubs said no to streamers on the handles!), listening to music (my taste is pretty varied) and I can watch Friends a million times and it never gets old. I love date nights with my hubby, quality time with family and getting together with friends for a good old natter. I must not forget to mention my love of all things Christmas and an unhealthy obsession with the film Elf, I actually believe that I am an elf trapped living as a human, but shhh, don't tell anyone!
Thank you for visiting my home on the web, I do hope you enjoy having a browse around!
Whimsically Yours, Katrina xx
